Pat Metheny (full name Patrick Bruce Metheny) is one of the most famous jazz guitarists in the world. He was born on August 12, 1954, in Missouri (USA). He started playing trumpet as a child, but around the age of 12 he switched to guitar, which became his main instrument. As a young musician, he was extremely talented: at 18 years old he was already teaching music at a university soon after, he also taught at the famous Berklee College of Music. In the 1970s, he began his professional career and founded the Pat Metheny Group, becoming a star in modern jazz.

Since he was born in 1954, he is currently 71 years old (in 2026)

During his career, he has played all over the world and worked with many important artists, including: David Bowie, Herbie Hancock, Charlie Haden, Pino Daniele (also on tour). He has also performed at major jazz festivals and famous venues (like Montreux and New York)

Here are some interesting facts about him: he started with the trumpet before switching to guitar. he was one of the youngest university teachers ever, he was among the first jazz musicians to use synthesizers and advanced technology, he has a very recognizable, smooth guitar sound, he has a connection with Italy, having played with Pino Daniele, he has also worked in cinema by composing music
